Get a flavor for what is happening at the Board of Education by browsing this recap of our live-tweet coverage of the April 14, 2020 Board of Education committee meeting.

The Board met via Zoom meeting.

SFUSD staff shared information with the Board about the distribution of technology resources to students, including 10,000 Chrome books and over 1500 wireless hotspots. They also shared some preliminary data showing how many students logged in to Google classroom during the first week of formal distance learning.

There was also information about the distribution of packets to students in PK-2nd grade. It was noted that these packets supported many families, including those who do not have current SFUSD students.

There was also an update from Student Nutrition Services on the continuing ramp-up of meal distribution capacity to meet continually increasing demand. Meal distribution has increased from about 20,000 meals in the first week of school closure to about 130,000 in week 5. There is also a program to deliver meals for students with special dietary needs or who are not able to access the meal sites. These meals are being delivered by individual volunteers from SFUSD.
