PPS-SF 2021 Recap and Achievements

Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco is proud to offer equitable access and education to the parents of SFUSD. PPS-SF offers programs in four languages: English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with the intent to reach families throughout San Francisco across different racial and socioeconomic spectrums.

Equitable Access

PPS-SF ensures that families have all the information they need to make informed decisions about their children and the schools they attend. This fall, PPS-SF has:

  • Held 78 enrollment workshops that nearly 4,000 families have attended (Including 1:1 assistance)

  • 94% of enrollment workshops, participants learned valuable information that made the enrollment process easier

Equitable Engagement

PPS-SF acknowledges that families are advocates and leader who support their students throughout their decision making. This year, PPS-SF has:

  • Helped more than 450 families gain knowledge and leadership skills in family engagement and education programs

  • Our first Family Leader Board cohort members completed their one-year terms, gaining skills, connections, knowledge, and experience to help them continue supporting their communities

Capacity for Engagement

PPS-SF ensures that the voices of lower income families are elevated so the families and SFUSD work together to create more equitable school policies/systems. Throughout 2020-2021, PPS-SF has:

  • Partnered with many organizations including Mission Graduates, Parent Advisory Council, SF Parent Coalition, San Francisco Beacon Initiative, SFUSD, SF Department of Public Health, and 2nd District PTA to organize town halls with approximately 3,000 attendees

  • Supported community engagement around important SFUSD policies including changes to the student assignment policy and plans to balance the budget in light of a large structural deficit

  • Engagement efforts successfully gathered input from a broad cross-section of SF communities

The team at PPS-SF would like to thank our donors for making this work possible. Cheers to an amazing year and more to come!
