Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco is a small but mighty team. We are parents, community leaders, and public school advocates. Our staff represents a wide array of ages, languages, and countries of origin. One thing we share in common: our passion for public education as a foundation of a liveable city for everyone.

This week, meet Sharon Ng, our Enrollment Coach.

About Sharon:

I've spent the past decade developing global education programs (mostly summer camps and after school program) in both New York and San Francisco.

I come to PPS-SF with a project management experience including launching a popular girls maker camp called Curious Jane, two profitable after-school programs along with two babysitting coops that have saved parents in my community thousands of dollars by providing reliable childcare. I am excited about empowering young girls and have started a STEM, Singapore math club and a mother-daughter Girls Leadership book club and am also the Vice President of the PTA at Daniel Webster Elementary..

Why you choose to do this work:

I love helping fellow parents.  When I moved from New York three years ago, it was challenging navigating the SFUSD’s school application process.  I understand the confusion and frustration the parents feel and just want to reassure them that we have wonderfully, rich and diverse schools in San Francisco.  I am here to translate and simplify what might be a confusing process.  My job is to reassure parents that its going to be okay and they got this!

Fun fact about you (outside of work):

I never had a dog growing up because I was scared of them as well allergic.  Last year, my family bought a miniature poodle named Qiqi (energy in Mandarin) to whom I am besotted - she has become my third daughter and I am her mommy! This goes to show, "you can teach an old dog new tricks" and get over unfounded fears! No one loves you unconditionally more than a dog.  It's a wonderful feeling!
