The Future of Public Education: PPS-SF Annual General Meeting

Note: Delaine Eastin, originally scheduled to appear, has had to step out due to unexpected gubernatorial campaign obligations. While we are sorry to lose her, we are pleased to welcome Carol Kocivar of Ed100 as an addition to our panel. 

Come to the Annual General Meeting for Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco.

We will share information about our progress in the last year and our plans for the next year.

Director of Policy Miranda Martin will moderate a panel discussion about "The Future of Education." Topics will include local impacts of the Trump administration's education policies, the teacher shortage resulting from the cost of living in San Francisco, and good news about education. Our guests will be:

  • Dr. Arun Ramanthann, CEO of Pivot Learning Partners, a nonprofit educational services organization focused on improving teaching and learning, school finance, and leadership development
  • Samantha Tran, Senior Managing Director of Education Policy at Children Now, a research, policy development, and advocacy organization dedicated to promoting children's health and education 
  • Shamann Walton, President of the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education
  • Carol Kocivar, Editorial Contributor at Ed100.org and former President of the California State PTA

There will also be an opportunity to meet PPS-SF's new executive director, Teresa Arriaga.
